Sunwest Bank Welcomes Veteran Banker Ted Kellogg to Board of Directors

Having the guidance of a talented and experienced Board of Directors is critical to the success of an organization.  Sunwest Bank has recently expanded its Board with the (deleted recent) election of veteran commercial real estate banking executive Ted Kellogg.

“Ted brings a wealth of commercial real estate banking experience earned during a brilliant career spanning nearly 35 years in Orange County and Los Angeles,” said the bank’s President and CEO Chris Walsh. “He has an excellent reputation in the business community and will be an important addition to our bank. We are pleased to welcome him aboard.”

“I am delighted to join the Board of Directors of Sunwest Bank,” said Kellogg. ”Sunwest Bank is uniquely positioned with its exceptional capital position and earnings performance as well as its strong professional banking staff and four decades of history to provide a broad array of loan and deposit services to its customers. Despite the economic challenges of our times, I expect the bank to demonstrate significant profitable future growth both organically and by acquisition. I look forward to working with our exceptional Board of Directors in helping ensure Sunwest Bank’s future success.”

Kellogg has a notable resume as a banking industry leader. From 2000 to 2009, he was an Executive Vice President and the Chief Lending Officer for California National Bank, a $6.3 billion regional bank headquartered in Los Angeles.  In that capacity, he was responsible for all organic loan production, loan credit quality and portfolio management.

During his tenure there, the bank originated in excess of $9 billion in interim construction, bridge acquisition and CRE term loans to the for-sale housing industry and income property investors and developers. By 2009, its organic loan portfolio exceeded $2 billion in loans outstanding.

Prior to joining California National Bank, Kellogg was the Executive Vice President for Real Estate Lending for First Security Bank of Utah, formerly California State Bank. There he was responsible for real estate loan origination, loan credit quality, loan workouts and portfolio management.  Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Manager of Real Estate Lending for Marine National Bank based in Irvine, California.

Kellogg began his banking career in the loan analysis credit-training program at Union Bank in 1975 and served in both the Equipment Finance Lending Division and Orange County Real Estate Lending Division as a Vice President.

He earned an MBA Degree from the University of Southern California in 1975 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Boston University in 1974.
